Chris Romero and Steve Vasquez participating in the 2005/2006 ACEC New Mexico Aspiring Principals Program

Chris Romero, P.E., Structural Engineer and Steve Vasquez, Structural Engineering Intern, Project Engineer, are participating in the distinguished 2005/2006 ACEC Aspiring Principals program.
The Aspiring Principals Program, which is sponsored by the American Council of Engineering Companies promotes the development of young, aspiring engineers who may become principals in consulting engineering organizations. The program’s focus will be providing meaningful educational experience for participants, improving awareness of the responsibilities principals have, stimulating the interest of participants in becoming principals and to develop camaraderie between future leaders of the engineering landscape.
Chris Romero has been with Chavez-Grieves since 1997. He received his BS in Engineering Technology from New Mexico State University in 1995 and his BS in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University in 1997. Chris has over 15 years experience in the engineering and construction industry. He has a wide variety of project experience as a structural engineer and project manager. Chris is currently working on projects such as the UNM School of Architecture Building in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has been the project manager and engineer on projects such as the International Balloon Museum in Albuquerque, New Mexico, The New Mexico History Museum in Sante Fe, New Mexico and Pojoaque High School.
Steve Vasquez received BS in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University in 2002 and has an Associate’s of Applied Science in Welding Technology from New Mexico State University. As project engineer, Steve has worked closely with architects, and contractors in the design primarily of casino’s and hospital projects, utilizing the design-build delivery system. Steve is currently working on the structural design of Desert Diamond Hotel and Casino in Tucson, Arizona. His projects also include Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona, Valley View Casino addition in Valley Center, California, the FBI building in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Spring Valley Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
