Bernalillo
County Courthouse, Albuquerque, New Mexico
The
Bernalillo County Courthouse is a 273,000 sf, 7-story plus basement building,
with a 4-story open atrium. In addition, there is a 92,000 sf, 4-story District
Attorney's building, both located in Albuquerque's Downtown district. The
Courthouse is the first Albuquerque building of its size to be designed to
the 1997 UBC.
Bernalillo County Metropolitan Courthouse,
Albuquerque, New Mexico
The
Bernalillo County Metropolitan Courthouse is 225,000 s.f. of courtrooms, courts
administration, processing, and administrative space. The facility is designed
to house 24 judicial chambers, with limited below-grade parking. The Metropolitan
Courthouse is an extremely heavy public service environment. The facility
will emphasize durability and public image, while concentrating on the ease
of circulation for all users. Separate and secure circulation is provided
for judges, in-custody individuals, and the public. The Metropolitan Courthouse
project is being developed by DCSW Architects in association with HLM Design,
and is presently in the construction phase. The design features a 10-story
urban structure in the judicial complex zone of downtown Albuquerque, New
Mexico, and a 950-car parking garage.
